  • Sci-fi series The 100 is one of two CW shows launching this winter. A nuclear apocalypse kills humanity on Earth but fortunately not everyone is on the ground. Twelve space stations are in orbit and come together to form the ARK.  Three generations of humans survive on the ARK,  dreaming of setting foot on the ground and breathing real air. 97 years after nuclear war, the dying ARK is ready to risk one hundred juvenile delinquents, sending them down to the surface to see if it is habitable. Clarke Walters (Eliza Taylor) , daughter of Councillor Abigail Walters (Paige Turco), is one. Wells Jaha (Eli Goree), son of Chancellor Jaha (Grey’s Anatomy’s Isaiah Washington), is another. Plus sister and brother Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) and Bellamy Black (Bob Morley), Finn (Thomas McDonell) and John (Continuum’s Richard Harmon). If they survive, their crimes will be forgiven. “We’re back”, shouts Octavia triumphantly, in a scene filmed in one of our local forests. And now they can do whatever they want, like removing their wristbands to appear dead so that no one else  will come down. Up on the ARK, Clarke’s mother Councillor Walters is sentenced to death by Councillor Kane (Lost’s Henry Ian Cusick). And down on the planet, the 100 discover they’re not alone. Showrunner Jasdon Rothenberg described The 100 as Lord of the Flies “writ large” at the TCA winter press tour. Filming of the first season wraps this month in Vancouver with locations like Golden Ears Park and Lynn Canyon playing the post-apocalyptic Earth. The 100 debuts on Wednesday, March 19th, after Arrow.

  • CW president Mark Pedowitz was so happy with Arrow’s two-episode arc introducing Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) as the Flash that plans for a three-episode backdoor pilot were scrapped.  Instead Flash will get a full-sized pilot, to film in Vancouver this March, so that the series starts “with a bang” like Arrow did.

  • The CW boss doesn’t expect Supernatural to end any time soon. “As a fan of the show, who’s seen every episode, as long as I’m here and those [ratings] still hold, God bless them, they can go as long as they want, ” Pedowitz told the TCA press tour. As for its spinoff of Chicago hunters versus monsters, the script is in for the backdoor pilot which will air as an episode of Supernatural season 9 and may contain some characters from the original series.
  • The Tomorrow People starring Robbie Amell moves to Mondays at 9 p.m. on March 17th when The 100 takes over its Wednesday post-Arrow slot, breaking up #AmellWednesdays.
