SHOOT: THE 9th LIFE OF LOUIS DRAX Films Air Rescue at West Vancouver’s Whytecliff Park

Louis Drax tumbled off a cliff this week at Whytecliff Park. It happened on his ninth birthday at a picnic with his parents (Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad and Sarah Gadon) in “the picnic area west of the small beach” in the West Vancouver park. The 9th Life of Louis Drax began shooting the Miramax film Monday at the Vancouver Aquarium with scenes of Louis (Aiden Longworth) and his parents (Aaron Paul and Sarah Gadon).

And then moved to Whytecliff Park for scenes of the family picnic, Louis going over at “cliff edge” set piece and several dream sequences of Louis walking out of the water or on the beach. Based on the best-selling novel by Liz Jensen, Louis Drax is a boy like no other. Every year he almost dies but miraculously survives. On his ninth birthday, he falls off this cliff but survives, albeit in a deep coma at Dr. Allan Pascal (Fifty Shades of Grey’s Jamie Dornan)’s coma clinic. His father is accused of the crime and will disappear. His mother is traumatized. Alexandre Aja (Horns) directs this “psychological journey through the deep recesses of the human mind”.  Aja likely is somewhere in these photos — buffeted by the wind of the rescue helicopter hovering above the narrow cove.
