You may have heard that Jamie Dornan is back filming a movie in Vancouver, this one called The 9th Life of Louis Drax not Fifty Shades of Grey. Toronto actress Sarah Gadon co-stars with Dornan and Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul in this supernatural thriller. Based on the best-selling novel by Liz Jensen, Louis Drax is a boy like no other. Every year he almost dies but miraculously survives. On his ninth birthday, Louis (Aiden Longworth) falls off a cliff but survives, albeit in a deep coma at Dr. Allan Pascal (Jamie Dornan)’s coma clinic. His father (Aaron Paul) is accused of the crime and will disappear. His mother (Sarah Gadon) becomes involved with Dr. Pascal. Alexandre Aja (Horns) directs this “psychological journey through the deep recesses of the human mind” which began shooting here in late October. [And is filming downtown on Granville Street and in the Vancouver Playhouse on Monday, December 1st.]

Sarah Gadon broke out as David Cronenberg’s go-to actress, cast opposite Michael Fassbender in A Dangerous Method, opposite Robert Pattison in Cosmopolis and opposite Robert Pattison (again) in Maps to the Stars. Other credits include Brandon Cronenberg’s Antiviral, Amma Asante’s Belle, Denis Villeneuve’s Enemy opposite Jake Gyllenhaal, Dracula Untold, Mika Kourasmaki’s The Girl King and Juilian Jarrold’s Girls Night Out.

We can expect to see some clips from her  films when the spotlight shines on Sarah Gadon at the Whistler Film Festival on December 5th. For tickets click here.
