SHOOT: DEADPOOL’s Motion-Capture Colossus on Set at Vancouver’s Georgia Viaduct

Marvel’s Colossus showed up unexpectedly on Deadpool’s Vancouver set on the Georgia Viaduct this past weekend in a motion-capture suit. Who is Colossus? Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin is a mutant Russian who can transform his flesh into steel. Xavier names him Colossus after he joins the X-Men team in America. So who is this Deadpool actor on the Viaduct  on Tuesday who bears a striking resemblance to the Marvel character? [In December, 6’4″ Serbian actor Stefan Kapicic became a last-minute replacement for Andre Tricoteux in the motion capture suit].

And how does Colossus fit with Deadpool? Friend or foe? Deadpool is the character Ryan Reynolds played in Wolverine, an X-Men Origins movie starring Hugh Jackman, but that film wasn’t true to the amoral motormouth. In Marvel comic-book lore, Wade Wilson is a wise-cracking gun-for-hire with cancer who partakes in military experiments to cure himself by replicating Wolverine’s mutant ability to heal quickly. The experiment succeeds except Wilson ends up terribly scarred. In Wolverine, Deadpool was surgically altered and mouthless. Not this time. In the Deadpool movie he talks non-stop.

Postscript:

Waited until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday to see the Deadpool crew take down, pack up and leave the Georgia Viaduct in less than half an hour. Vancouver police re-opened the Viaduct at 3 p.m. on the dot. Crew have performed this feat daily since Deadpool began filming on the Georgia Viaduct. Impressive.

Letscher (Scandal, The Carrie Diaries) is slated to appear in episode 211, which is fittingly titled “The Reverse-Flash Returns.”
