Update: Fear the Walking Dead set a record as the highest-rated first season in American cable history, averaging 11.2 million viewers for its six episodes and 7.3 million adults in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic.

Looks like the 2000-odd walkers locked inside the Los Angeles arena (Vancouver’s Pacific Coliseum) are getting out in the Fear the Walking Dead season one finale tonight and headed for the military compound (Vancouver’s former RCMP E Division headquarters) where Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez) is nursing the “infected” and Nick (Frank Dillane) and the now-dead Griselda were taken. It’s the zombie herd we’ve been waiting for.
Despite the sparseness of walkers in Fear The Walking Dead, the companion series has been a bigger hit in its first season than the original was, averaging 11.4 million viewers for its first five episodes versus 6.5 million for The Walking Dead’s first six episodes. And with a healthy 7.4 million in the coveted advertiser demographic of 18-49. [Ratings held steady for the finale]. But Fear still has a ways to go to catch up to the monster 15.8 million who watched The Walking Dead’s season 5 finale and should tune in for the season 6 premiere next Sunday.
Tonight Fear The Walking Dead couple Travis (Cliff Curtis) and Madison (Kim Dickens), his son Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie) and her daughter Alicia (Alycia Debnam Carey) will try to rescue her son Nick (Frank Dillane) and his ex-wife Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez) from the military compound. And Daniel (Ruben Blades) will go all-out to get back his wife Griselda, unaware that she’s dead, likely releasing the zombies from the arena.

However the walkers get there, I watched the soldiers fire on the herd at the military compound ( Vancouver’s former RCMP E Division headquarters) in June.

This scene has charismatic rich guy Victor Strand and Nick trapped with walkers in a hallway at the military compound. Colman Domingo was filming it at the former RCMP E Division Headquarters when I walked by this summer.
The season one finale of Fear the Walking Dead airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
