One of the new characters in the second season of alternate WWII outcome series The Man in the High Castle is a young Berlin-born filmmaker Nicole Becker (Fifty Shades Darker’s Bella Heathcote). Is she inspired by the famous film director and Nazi propagandist Leni Riefenstahl? Becker crosses paths with German-American agent Joe Blake (Luke Kleintank) after he parts ways with resistance fighter Juliana Crain (Alexa Davalos) in the season one finale, according to EW.

Based on Philip K. Dick’s award-winning novel, the Amazon Prime series imagines an alternate reality in the early 1960s where the Japanese and Germans win World War II and divide the United States into three regions — the west coast as the Japanese Pacific States, the Rockies as a neutral zone and the east coast as the Greater Nazi Reich. Despite the swatsikas on the Main Mall of UBC campus last week that was a Japanese Pacific States set not a Greater Nazi Reich one.

Greater Nazi Reich sets tend to be more private because of the public outcry over swastikas, even prop ones. Sets built on two sound stages in CBC Vancouver are thought to be in the Greater Nazi Reich. Production is filming on them today and this could be somewhere a young German filmmaker (Bella Heathcote) would show up.

Produced by Ridley Scott and Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files), the series also stars Rupert Evans as Frank Frink.

Season 2 of The Man in the High Castle started filming March 22nd and is expected to wrap August 16th (dates subject to change) via the Directors Guild of Canada – BC production list.
