Netflix’s eight-episode half-hour comedy Haters Back Off, based on youtube videos by Colleen Ballinger-Evans, has begun filming in metro Vancouver . With more than a billion views on youtube, Ballinger-Evans and her brother developed her most popular character Miranda Sings — an overconfident but untalented and deluded young woman who succeeds simply because she believes she was born to be a celebrity — into a show.

Angela Kinsey (The Office) plays Miranda’s mother; Steve Little is Miranda’s uncle; Erik Stocklin is Miranda’s neighbour and best friend.

Haters Back Off started filming today in Port Coquitlam and is expected to wrap June 3rd (date subject to change) in metro Vancouver, according to the DGC-BC Production List. Production sign: BLP2.
