Every year the Saturn Awards delivers in recognizing genre shows and talent which tend to go unnoticed at the Emmys, Canadian Screen Awards or BAFTAs. 2016 did not disappoint. Vancouver’s own time-travelling series Continuum won Best Sci-Fi TV series, over Brit sci-fi classic Doctor Who and Vancouver-shot American sci-fi classic The X-Files. Filmed-in-Vancouver The Flash won Best Superhero series. The Winchester brothers themselves — Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki — presented Supernatural creator Eric Kripke with the Dan Curtis Legacy Award. And about-to-film-in-Vancouver Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist was presented with the Breakthrough Performance Award.
