Adapted from Sheryl Woods’s 10-book series, Chesapeake Shores is about the multi-generational Maryland O’Brien family. Abby O’Brien Winters (Meghan Ory), a divorced, mother of twins returns home to the Maryland town her father (Treat William) built after years in a demanding Wall Street job. The charming Inn at Eagle Point that her younger sister Jess (Laci J Mailey) renovated is facing foreclosure. Abby needs to save the Inn, deal with her fractured family and face her first love Trace Riley (Jesse Metcalfe), the man she left 15 years ago. Is Trace a second chance at love? Meghan Ory and Jesse Metcalfe have worked together before: 10 years ago in John Tucker Must Die and more recently in Dead Rising: Watchtower.
Here’s a sequence filmed in Steveston of Abby and Jess leaving the bank where Trace Riley works. Steveston more commonly stands in for Once Upon a Time’s Storybrooke where Ory plays Ruby/Red/the wolf.
Father and daughter (Treat Williams and Meghan Ory).
Sequence of father and daughter in Sully’s Cafe, filmed in Rocanni’s in Steveston.
Diane Ladd is Nell O’Brien.
John Tinker came aboard as showrunner for the other 8 episodes of the first season, which filmed on Vancouver Island in Nanaimo, Parksville and Qualicum Beach from mid-May to late July this summer. Shooting on Vancouver Island was a return home for Meghan Ory — who grew up on Island but shot her last major series Intelligence in Los Angeles.
Early on in filming, production turned downtown Nanaimo into New York City.
