What have you done to Mother, Norman? Norman Bates’s descent into madness is complete in this teaser for Bates Motel fifth and final season. In last season’s penultimate episode Forever, Norman (Freddie Highmore) killed his mother Norma (Vera Farmiga) in what he thought would be permanent carbon-monoxide-induced sleep for both. But he unexpectedly survived. In total denial and desperate to get her back, he dug up her corpse and brought Norma home. And then he stuffed her.

This is the Norman we know from Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1960 film Psycho. But nobody else does.

Norman is living a double life when Bates Motel resumes almost two years after Norma’s death. Publicly he’s an upstanding motel owner in White Pine Bay. Privately he’s a killer with “Mother” driving him to more and more violence.

Norma’s widower Romero (Nestor Carbonell) isn’t fooled but he’s stuck in jail.

Norma’s eldest son Dylan (Max Thieriot) and girlfriend Emma (Olivia Cooke) are pulled back into Norman’s world in the final season As is Caleb (), Dylan’s father and Norma’s brother.

New to White Pine Bay is Sam Loomis (The Walking Dead’s Austin Nichols) who’s in a love triangle with a Norma lookalike and Marion Crane (Rihanna).
