This year’s DC Crossover Event on The CW has a name — Elseworlds — and a new character — The Monitor.
Is Elseworlds a way to have the The Flash (Grant Gustin), the Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) in Gotham City without breaking Oliver Queen out of prison? Elseworlds are the imprint where DC Comics heroes are taken out of their usual worlds and put in alternate timelines or realities with no regard for continuity.
Stephen Amell seemed to approve the theory.
But Marc Guggenheim said the crossover won’t be out of continuity.
Elseworlds will feature LaMonica Garrett (Designated Survivor) as Mar Novu, an extraterrestrial being of infinite power and near-infinite knowledge of the multiverse known as the Monitor. His twin — the Anti-Monitor — attacked the multiverse in the mini-series Crisis on Infinite Earths, which united everyone by putting everything in danger.
This year’s crossover is flipping the order: it starts with The Flash on Sunday, December 9th, followed by Arrow on Monday, December 10th and ends with Supergirl on Tuesday, December 11th — all at 8 p.m.
