Writer/Producer: Jason Richman.
Director: James Griffiths.
The series is inspired by the Greg Rucka graphic novels Stumptown about army-veteran-turned-private investigator Dex Parios, who solves other people’s messes in Portland with a blind eye to her own.
Dex Parios is drifting a bit; she’s come back to her hometown of Portland after a long stint overseas in Military Intelligence, and she’s bored, unfocused, and $11,000 in debt to a local casino. Looking for her next move, Dex is handed her future occupation on a platter when casino owner Sue Lynn Blackbird hires her on a wandering granddaughter job. The search for Nina Blackbird soon turns into a kidnapping caper, and as the stakes get higher, Dex finds her focus getting sharper, her skill-set growing more useful by the minute — and a life as a quirky, unpredictable private detective seems like the next chapter in Dex’s quirky, unpredictable life.

The ABC Upfront is on May 14th in New York City.
