We’re actually starting relatively early this year to take advantage of some of Vancouver’s gorgeous summer weather — Erin Krakow to ET.

The reason Erin Krakow is comfortable starting production early is because creators, cast and crew are prioritizing safety, with hand sanitizer, social distancing and masks when not on camera.

We’re operating in pods…teams of people generally in the same department, and will be working to avoid crossover between them as much as possible, — Erin Krakow told ET.

We’re aiming to film scenes outdoors as much as possible. — Erin Krakow to ET.

Hope Valley is on the Jamestown Movie Set. situated on 96 acres of land that used to be the MacInnes Farms in Langley.

Cast: Erin Krakow, Jack Wagner, Pascale Hutton, Kavan Smith, Kevin McGarry, Chris McNally, Paul Greene, Andrea Brooks and Martin Cummins.

When Calls the Heart is the story of  Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a shipping magnate’s daughter accustomed to 19th century high society life, who goes to teach in the small coal mining town of Hope Valley, where a mining explosion has left many widows.

Elizabeth’s wealthy father ensures that RCMP Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) is assigned to Hope Valley to protect his daughter. As Elizabeth adapts to the frontier lifestyle, she warms up to Jack and their long romance culminated in a wedding. But her happiness was cut short in the season 5 finale when Jack died, leaving Elizabeth a widow with a baby on the way.

In season 6 we met baby Jack and two new men in town — Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) and charming gambler and saloon owner Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) — who become Elizabeth’s suitors.

Kevin McGarry, Erin Krakow, Chris McNally.

Season 7 ended with Elizabeth and Hope Valley believing Mountie Nathan Grant had been shot and killed,  only for him to turn up alive. Elizabeth runs into his arms as Lucas watched. And so the love  triangle continues.

There will also be a Christmas movie When Calls the Heart Christmas 2020.

When Calls the Heart returns to the Hallmark Channel with season 8  early in 2021.
