Riverdale starts filming season 5 today in Vancouver, after fourteen days of quarantining for cast and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
Filming dates: September 14th to May 1st, 2021.

Casey Cott had checked on KJ Apa in quarantine a week ago.

With almost everyone in quarantine two weeks ago, cast zoomed into their first table read.

Where do they start?
The show managed to complete 19 out of 22 episodes in season 4 before the pandemic shut down production in mid-March.
But not Prom, newly-written episode The Preppy Murders, Graduation and the 7-year Time Jump.
Riverdale cast did virtual table reads of season five’s first two episodes on Wednesday.

We had two and half episodes left so we stopped in the middle of an episode. So when we go back we have to finish three days of one episode that we were filming in March so we’re all going to be significantly tanner… maybe I’ve gained weight during quarantine so I’ll look a little different. It’s like five months. It did make quite a difference. It’ll be very easy to tell. One filmed in March, one in September. — Lili Reinhart to Jimmy Fallon in August.

What did the cast do during the long hiatus?
Lili Reinhart, who split with co-star Cole Sprouse in March, bought her own house in L.A. and promoted her Amazon film Chemical Hearts which she starred in and executive-produced.
Cole Sprouse, who quarantined with KJ Apa in Los Angeles, confirmed the split from Lili Reinhart.
Cole Sprouaw joined the Black Lives Matter protests in L.A. and was arrested.

KJ Apa split his head open while filming the Michael Bay-produced pandemic movie Songbird with Sofia Carson in L.A. but wrapped the movie in mid-August.
Camila Mendes had to leave her boyfriend behind when she returned to Vancouver.
Earlier she spoke out about Black Lives Matter and she and Madelaine Petsch were Outdoorsy Partners.
Vanessa Morgan announced her pregnancy in July.
And spoke up about Black Lives Matter in late May.

Riverdale returns Wednesday nights this Winter.
Season 5 premieres in January 2021 on The CW.
