FINAL SEASON: Amazon’s THE EXPANSE Renewed For Sixth & Final Season of Production in Toronto This Winter

Amazon has renewed The Expanse for a sixth and final season.

Production starts next year in Toronto.

Target filming dates: January 20th to April 26th, 2021.

The Expanse is set in the future where humanity has colonized the solar system and the people of Earth, Mars and the Asteroid Belt have long been in opposition with one another. When the crew of the Rocinante uncovers an ancient alien technology, a vast conspiracy begins to emerge, one that will bring the solar system to the brink of war. 

Season 5, based on Nemesis Games, sees the emergence of Belter Marco Inaros as a major threat and the main crew splitting up.

Cas Anvar will not return as Martian pilot Alex Kamal.

Adapted from James S.A. Corey (otherwise known as Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck)’s novels, The Expanse aired for three seasons on Syfy but was cancelled in 2018.

A legion of fans launched a campaign to save the show.

And Amazon picked it up for season 4.

Season 5 launches December 16th on Amazon Prime Video with three episodes and then one a week through February 3rd.
