Emilio Estevez is back as Coach Bombay in The Mighty Ducks Game Changers, streaming March 26th on Disney+.

The setting is present-day Minnesota, and the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Brady Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom, Alex (Lauren Graham), set out to build their own team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of today’s youth sports. With the help of Coach Bombay (Emilio Estevez), they rediscover the joys of playing just for love of the game.

“’Once a Duck, always a Duck’ and after 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay’s jacket and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in The Mighty Ducks franchise,” Estevez told Deadline.

Lauren Graham of The Gilmore Girls and Parenthood is a hockey Mom in The Mighty Ducks series. She recurred as the Boss in season one of NBC’s filmed-in-Vancouver Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, but couldn’t do both series last Fall.

The Mighty Ducks filmed in two tranches in Vancouver — before and after last March’s pandemic shutdown.
Filming dates: February 18th to March 13th, 2020.
