Lauren Graham’s Hockey Mom Alex and Emilio Estevez’s Coach Bombay are the adults in the Mighty Ducks revival series with a whole new team of misfits.
The setting is present-day Minnesota, and the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Brady Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom, Alex (Lauren Graham), set out to build their own team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of today’s youth sports. With the help of Coach Bombay (Emilio Estevez), they rediscover the joys of playing just for love of the game.

“’Once a Duck, always a Duck’ and after 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay’s jacket and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in The Mighty Ducks franchise,” Estevez told Deadline.

Where’s Joshua Jackson? Some of the OG Mighty Ducks do return in episode 6, but not Jackson’s Charlie. Jackson was too busy working amid the pandemic but the invitation is open.
Elden Henson’s Fulton, Matt Doherty’s Averman, Vinny La Russo’s Adam Banks, Marguerite Moreau’s Connie, Garret Henson’s Guy, and Justin Wong’s Kenny Wu all return in episode 6 for a Mighty Ducks gala reunion and meet Estevez’s Coach Bombay afterwards at a pizza parlour, according to EW.

The Mighty Ducks filmed in two tranches in Vancouver — before and after last March’s pandemic shutdown.
Filming dates: February 18th to March 13th, 2020.
