Apple TV+’s psychological thriller Surface, starring Gugu Mbatha-raw, has started filming in Vancouver.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Oliver Jackson-Cohen on Day 1.
Working Title: Madeline.
Filming dates: June 25th to October 22nd, 2021.
Surface is an elevated thriller about Sophie (Gugu Mbatha-Raw)’s quest to rebuild her life after a suicide attempt, and her struggle to remember – and understand – everything that led up to the moment when she jumped.

Ari Graynor is Caroline, an heiress and old friend of Sophie and James.
Stephan James is Baden, an undercover cop with a connection to Sophie.
François Arnaud is Harrison, a colleague and friend of James.
Marianne Jean Baptiste is Hannah, Sophie’s therapist.
Millie Brady is Eliza, a mysterious woman with a connection to Sophie’s past.
