You know you’ve made it when you get your own GIF.
And Vancouver’s own Aleks Paunovic has made it with his role as “Tracksuit Dracula” aka Ivan Banionis, the black tracksuit-wearing leader of the Tracksuit Mafia in Disney+’s Hawkeye series.
The whole gang is hilarious.
Originally from Winnipeg, the 6’5″ Aleks Paunovic has made his home in Vancouver for many years. I first noticed him on Battlestar Galactica and have followed his career since as Jim McAlister on CBC’s Arctic Air, Gustus on The 100, Julien Dupont on iZombie, Rollins on Continuum, Winter on War For the Planet of the Apes, Wigan Oak on Dick Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Wech on See, Julius on Van Helsing and Bojan Boscovic on Snowpiercer.
But Hawkeye’s “Tracksuit Dracula” is his most high-profile role yet. In the comics, the one-eyed Lucky the Pizza Dog originally belongs to Ivan and ultimately befriends Clint but maybe not in the series. Kate Bishop is the one who rescues Lucky from being run over and takes him home.
