Disney+’s The Spiderwick Chronicles built part of its iconic and scary Arthur Spiderwick house in Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park.
The Spiderwick Chronicles follows the Grace Family—twin brothers Jared (Lyon Daniels) and Simon (Noah Cottrell), their sister Mallory (Mychala Lee) and mother Helen ( (Joy Bryant)—as they move into their dilapidated ancestral home and begin to unravel a dark mystery about their great-great Uncle who once discovered the secret and maybe foreboding faerie world existing parallel to their own.

Christian Slater plays Hollywood movie maker Richard Grace, the absentee father of Simon, Jared and Mallory Grace and ex-husband of Helen Grace. But Richard Grace is really Mulgarath in disguise, an evil ogre who wants to steal Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Natural World to become more powerful.
