The Mother filmed in B.C. in the Fall of 2021 as Ohio and Alaska– shooting its wintery scenes in Squamish with fake snow and Smithers with real snow. — and in Spain and the Canary Islands in early 2022 as Cuba.

The Mother comes into her daughter’s life when Zoe is kidnapped on her 12th birthday in Cincinnati, Ohio, played by Victory Square in downtown Vancouver.

After retrieving her daughter Zoe from Hector Alvarez (Gael Garcia Bernal) in Cuba, the Mother and FBI agent William Cruise (Omari Hardwick) take Zoe back to the American mid-West.
The Mother says goodbye to Zoe at a gas station, played by the Sqewqel Gas Bar in Agassiz.
But after Cruise is ambushed by Adrian Lovell (Joseph Fiennes) and his men, the Mother has to rescue her daughter again.

This time the Mother takes Zoe back to Alaska, where she trains her daughter to survive.
Which comes in handy when Adrian Lovell and his men show up there.
