Toronto as Toronto on This Week’s STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS

It’s Toronto, The biggest city in what used to be called Canada. You know, maple leaves, politeness, poutine — La’an Noonien-Singh.

In this week’s time-twisting episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, chief of security La’an Noonien-Singh travels back in time to 21st-Century Earth to prevent an attack which will alter humanity’s future history.

We wrote it for New York, right? We were gonna do this giant spectacle and take the show to New York, and we quickly realized we could not afford it. So then we went through the process of doing that thing that everybody does, which is, well, how do we make Toronto look like New York? And then we sort of thought, “Huh, why don’t we just let Toronto be Toronto? Akiva Goldsman.

It starts when La’an Noonien-Singh is given a device by a dying stranger and told to “get to the bridge”. Lana assumes the stranger means the bridge of the USS Enterprise but finds James T. Kirk in the captain’s chair not Christopher Pike. The timeline has already changed. Then both Sing and Kirk are transported to 21st Century Toronto, where they see a bridge blow up from their hotel window.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2:

Toronto filming dates: February 1st to June 30th, 2022.

Production of season 3 in Toronto is delayed because of the Writers Guild of America Strike.
