Raunchy BC-Filmed Asian Road Trip Comedy JOY RIDE in Theatres This Friday
Raunchy BC-fimed Asian road trip comedy Joy Ride, starring Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu and Sabrina Wu, is in theatres this Friday, July 7th. CinemaCon named the Joy Ride quartet the Comedy Ensemble of the Year in April.

How did this movie come about?
Director Adele Lim and co-writers Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and Teresa Hsiao wanted to make a movie like The Hangover but about four Asian-American women instead of four men.
We’re fully leaning into a side of Asian-ness the world doesn’t usually get to see… the messy, R-rated, thirsty AF side. — Director Adele Lim.
But who could play the lead? Daniel Dae Kim recommended his friend Ashley Park, as someone with the “star power” to be the lead, according to Vulture‘.
Joy Ride follows four unlikely friends who embark on a once-in-a-lifetime international adventure. When Audrey’s (Ashley Park) business trip to Asia goes sideways, she enlists the aid of Lolo (Sherry Cola), her irreverent childhood best friend who also happens to be a hot mess; Kat (Stephanie Hsu), her college friend turned Chinese soap star; and Deadeye (Sabrina Wu), Lolo’s eccentric cousin.
Their no-holds-barred, epic experience becomes a journey of bonding, friendship, belonging, and wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are.
Producer Seth Rogen told CinemaCon that the test screening for Joy Ride “blew the lid off the theatre. You could feel the audience in the room going, ‘thank f*cking God that a group of people attempted to do this again.”
