The OG Monk series introduced us to brilliant San Francisco Police Department detective Adrian Monk, who suffers a breakdown after a car bomb kills his wife Trudy. Monk loses his job and refuses to leave his house for a few years after developing obsessive-compulsive disorder. Evenutally Monk begins work as a private detective and police consultant with the help of his nurse/assistant.
