Lin Manuel Miranda’s messenger God Hermes returns in episode 6 of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Based on Rick Riordan’s best-selling book series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians tells the story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
Percy, Annabeth, and Grover must resist the alluring draw of a casino that feels outside of time.
The Lotus Casino in Las Vegas was built from scratch at Mammoth Studios in Burnaby.
After escaping the Lotus Casino, Percy has to drive a Hermes cab out of underground parking.

Despite his best efforts, Percy misses a meeting with his Dad Poseidon and talks instead with Nereid under the ocean off Santa Monica, California — but actually shot in a massive water tank at Mammoth Studios.
The underwater shot with the Nereid was actually the very last scene we filmed for the season. Underwater work is super complicated. A massive tank was constructed, like three stories tall, and Walker & Cassandra his double spent pretty much all day inside with the safety divers. Don’t worry: they had air & masks standing by at all times and took lots of breaks to warm/dry up, but still . . . how you would fare floating at the bottom of a tank all day?
