Disney+’s PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS With Walker Scobell Gets Season 2 in BC

I can’t wait to bring the next season of [Percy Jackson]  to [Disney+]! Raise anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods. We’re heading for the Sea of Monsters! — Rick Riordan.

Updated with The Sea of Monsters synopsis.

Disney+’s BC-filmed Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, starring Walker Scobell as the young demigod, heads into the Sea of Monsters in season 2.

Season One of Percy Jackson and the Olympians successfully established the franchise with a Star Wars or Marvel-sized series budget — said to be between $100 million and $120 million for the eight episodes according to Variety sources.

Fans of Rick Riordan’s best-selling Percy Jackson books enjoyed the more faithful adaption. Season One amassed over 110 million hours of viewing across streaming platforms Disney+ and Hulu (in the U.S.) or roughly 20.6 million views, according to Disney CEO Bob Iger on today’s earnings call.

Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will be adapted from the second book The Sea of Monsters.

Poseidon’s 13-year-old demigod son Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) is desperate to rescue his friend Grover (Aryan Simhadri), captive of the bloodthirsty Cyclops Polyphemus, and to retrieve the healing Golden Fleece.

The Golden Fleece is needed to restore the protection around Camp Half-Blood, the only safe haven for the children of gods and humans.. However, the camp has already been compromised and the quest has been awarded to the bully Clarisse (Dior Goodjohn).

Encouraged by Hermes (LLin Manuel Miranda.) Percy sets off for the Bermuda Triangle anyway with his friend Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and new classmate Tyson (not yet cast).

Where did we leave Percy and friends at the end of Season One?

Percy, Grover and Annabeth hugging at Thalia’s Pine in Camp Half-Blood before going their separate ways until the next adventure.
