Longtime Succession director and executive producer Mark Mylod will direct the next The Last of Us season 2 episode filming in British Columbia.
Mylod brought many of Succession’s biggest events to life, including the family’s reaction to the death of patriarch Logan Roy early in the final season, which he won the Emmy for in January.
The Last of Us co-creator Craig Mazin is still in the Director’s chair. for season 2 of his own acclaimed HBO series. Production began on February 12th.
What is The Last of Us?
The Last of Us takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed by a fungal pandemic. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle teen Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Season one left us with Joel and Ellie heading back to Jackson, Wyoming, a thriving community of survivors from the fungal pandemic led by Joel’s brother Tommy Miller (Gabriel Luna).

Production moved from Alberta to British Columbia for season 2 and built a massive Jackson set at Britannia on the Sea to Sky Highway. Is this a replacement for Canmore, Alberta as Jackson?

Co-creator Craig Mazin and lead Bella Ramsey arrived in Vancouver in January for pre-production, along with new cast members Young Mazino (who plays Jackson scout Jesse) and Isabela Merced (who plays Ellie’s new Jackson girlfriend Dina).
The other lead Pedro Pascal followed in February. He accepted the People’s Choice Award for Male TV Star for his The Last of Us role last Sunday night from his downtown suite.

The other major new addition for season 2 is Kaitlyn Deaver as Seattle militia group soldier Abby.
