FX’s acclaimed Shogun swept the top Emmys tonight, winning Best Drama Series, Best Actor for Hiroyuki Sanada’s powerful performance as Lord Toranaga (the future Shogun), Best Actress for Anna Sawai’s stoic Toda Mariko and Best Director for Frederick E.O. Tye’s helming of Crimson Sky.
This is a history-making 18 Emmys from 25 nominations in one season.

Last weekend, Shogun dominated in the below-the-line categories, winning 14 Emmys at the Creative Arts Ceremony.

After its massive success, FX renewed Shogun for two more seasons and is expected to return to British Columbia for production, with some film locations in Japan.

Fishing village of Ajiro: location — Minaty Bay on the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler.
Blackthorne’s house in upper Ajiro location — built in a RV parking lot at the Swiss Canadian Mountain Range Association Gun Club in Coquitlam.
Osaka harbour location: the closed-down Flavelle sawmill on the Port Moody waterfront. Crew built jetties into the water and fishermen’s houses that wrapped around the inlet.
