Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, starring Samara Weaving and Kathryn Newton as hunted sisters, gets its World Premiere at SXSW in Austin.
Update: The horror-comedy sequel filmed in Toronto last Spring and directors Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy told SXSW that most of the effects were done practically and cast did nearly all their own stunts. including getting shot with a “blood cannon”.
The original Ready or Not followed a young bride (Samantha Weaving) as she joined her new husband (Mark O’Brien)’s rich, eccentric Le Domas family (Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, Andie MacDowell) in a time-honored tradition that turned into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.
Moments after surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace (Samara Weaving) discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.
Sarah Michelle Gellar aka Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of the rival families hunting Grace and Faith.
She seems to enjoy playing a villain alongside Shawn Hatosy
As does Nestor Carbonell.

Kathryn Newton is new to Ready or Not but not to its directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who helmed horror film Abigail starring Kathryn Newton as a vampire ballerina.
