After weeks of prep, season 3 of HBO’s popular adaption of The Last of Us video games, with Kaitlyn Dever as Washington Liberation Front (WLF) leader Abby, is now in production for nine months in Vancouver.
Look for blocks of downtown Vancouver to turn into a dystopian but lush version of Seattle.
What is The Last of Us?
The Last of Us takes place 20+ years after modern civilization has been destroyed by the Cordyceps fungal pandemic.
In season one, Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, was hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What started as a small job soon became a brutal and heartbreaking journey as they traversed the U.S. and depended on each other for survival.
Season 2 picked up five years after the events of the first season, with Joel and Ellie living in Jackson, Wyoming but estranged by a lie. Joel’s brutal death at the hands of former Firefly Abby sent Ellie to Seattle on a path of vengeance against Abby and her WLF crew.
Season 3 will change perspective, following Abby on her journey to a confrontation with Ellie.
Will that shift of perspective soften Abby, who is arguably the most the most-hated video game character of all time?

But there is a recasting. One of Abby’s crew Manny Alverez had to be recast after Danny Ramirez dropped out of season 3 due to a scheduling conflict. Jorge Lendeborg Jr. is the new Manny
And we will meet Clea DuVall as a new Seraphite leader?
The Seraphites are distinguished by the men’s shaved heads and the women’s braided hair.
The Last of Us is busy casting Seraphite backgrounders for season 3.
Sadly, Canadian icon Catherine O’Hara won’t be returning for season 3. She died unexpectedly last month. Pedro Pascal paid tribute:
