Normal, starring Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk as a substitute sheriff in a small town whose citizens will kill l to keep their secrets, gets its U.S. premiere at SXSW in Austin.
Following the untimely death of the sheriff of the town of Normal, Ulysses (Bob Odenkirk) fills the void as a substitute lawman until an official replacement is named. It’s a sleepy town (population: 4,890) with simple problems, yet Ulysses can’t shake a nagging suspicion that life is just a little too perfect for the colorful townsfolk.
When an out-of-town couple robs the lone bank, they unwittingly blow the doors off the secret to Normal’s too-good-to-be true success. Everyone—from the bartender to the priest—is on the payroll and ready to kill to keep the town’s secrets under wraps.
And now Ulysses, who’s up-till-now focused only on running away from the demons of his past, must take a stand and fight. With no choice but to form an alliance with the robbers and a disaffected loaner, it’s up to Ulysess to take on the town’s citizens-turned-assassins in a bone-crunching, bullet-dodging, relentless fight for survival. But the residents of Normal will stop at nothing to protect their way of life.
