Big FIRE COUNTRY – SHERIFF COUNTRY Crossover Event

The big Fire Country – Sheriff Country crossover airs tonight, with the two series coming together in one Edgewater event that begins when a school bus explodes and nine students go missing.

Updated: How did the two Canadian crews manage it since Fire Country films in metro Vancouver as Edgewater, California and spinoff Sheriff Country shoots in metro Toronto as the same fictional town?

We were filming simultaneously, so we had to finish our stuff in Toronto and then fly the Sheriff Country cast out to finish the stuff that we had in Vancouver. — Sheriff Country’s Matt Lauria to TVInsider.

The 2-part event kicks off with the Sheriff Country episode The Finest:

After a mysterious school bus explosion leaves nine students missing, stepsisters Sheriff Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin) and Cal Fire Division Chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr) must set aside their personal conflicts and unite their departments to try and crack the case.

Sheriff Country is followed by the Fire Country episode The Bravest:.

With the clock ticking and the fate of nine missing students on the line, Bode Leone (Max Thieriot) and Deputy Nathan Boone (Matt Lauria) must risk it all in order to save innocent lives.

The opening Cal Fire vs Sheriff’s Department softball game:

I had a lot of fun, even though it was pouring rain that day, doing the softball scene. I think just because so many of us were together, anytime you get to film with everybody, for me, it ends up being fun. I know it’s a little bit more of a headache for the crew and the ADs to be wrangling everybody at one time, but that stuff was a lot of fun – Max Thieriot to TVInsider..

You can’t really tell, but it was a torrential downpour for the entire softball game. So yeah, we’re all out in it, so it felt like a real game.Matt Lauria to TVInsider.

The school bus explosion:

Fire Country’s Diane Farr and Sheriff Country’s Morena Baccarin and Matt Lauria in Vancouver.

Matt Lauria flew to Vancouver to do big scenes with Fire Country’s Max Thieriot

TThe quarry:

The stuff at the quarry was fun. Exterior quarry stuff was pretty rad.Max Thieriot to TVInsider.

Yeah, that was a blast when the bombs were going off . . .and then we’re just digging. And because the cameras were so far back and there were so many cameras rolling, they were making sure that everything was working, and we’re in the elements, it’s late at night, and it was wet out. And so we’re digging in the sand, Max and I are digging in the sand, just digging, and . . .we must have just dug and dug for 10 minutes straight . . . There was so much about this episode that felt really real in terms of the elements. — Matt Lauria to TVInsider.

The container and tunnel:

Bode and Boone end up trapped underground in the same container as the missing teens, where Boone struggles with claustrophobia.

Honestly, it was cool. I think the sets that we built were super impressive, and the tunnel to get out, — Max Thieriot to TVInsider...

It was like a six-minute take of sweating. But it was also, we shot so fast . . . I think we shot all those sequences in six hours or something like that in that box, it’s a breakneck pace. And the crew out there [in Vancouver] are so impressive. They were so fast with handheld cameras and moving the walls around. But yeah, we were speeding. — Matt Lauria to TVInsider.

Will Bode and Boone grab beers and play pool in the future?

We’ve got to get Max out [to Toronto] to film some Sheriff Country.Matt Lauria to TVInsider

Yeah. Listen, I’ll be there in June. — Max Thieriot to TVInsider..
