Hulu’s Phony, a coming-of-age comedy-with-a-twist starring Sam Nivola and Connie Britton, reveals more cast.
Phony is a coming-of-age mystery about a teenager (Sam Nivola) who wakes up in the hospital after a car accident to discover his mom (Connie Britton)— his only parent and his best friend — appears to have been replaced by an impostor.
Phony’s tone is described as Freaks and Geeks trapped in The Twilight Zone.
The pilot shot in Vancouver in December 2024 and season one of the series is currently in production in Vancouver.

Sam Nivola is Sonny, the most beloved student at his high school, but his Mom is the only person who really knows him.
Connie Britton is Sonny’s single Mom Ellen and the principal of his high school.
Meera Syal is Sharia, a private investigator who lives on the outskirts of town. Sonny hires Sharla to help him find his mother. Sharla believes in “alternative knowledge”, something Sonny finds useful.
Grace Brennan is Sonny’s middle school crush Mallory who just re-enrolled in public school after being homeschooled by her religious parents for the last few years, Mallory is skeptical of Sonny’s predicament and can’t help but voice what she thinks.
Mahaela Park’ is Sonny’s girlfriend Chloe, the class president of Delby High. Chloe cares deeply for Sonny, even as his accident presents obstacles with their relationship.
Maliq Johnson is Sonny’s childhood best friend Vogel, who’s on the Delby soccer team and a friend that Sonny can always rely on.
Colter Lee is Mallory’s cousin Weldon, a new student at Delby High. He becomes Sonny’s biggest confidant and the most fervent believer that Sonny is right about his mom.
