THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN Series With Matt Dillon is Rolling in Alberta

MGM is saddling up with a new series adaption of the classic Western The Magnificent Seven, starring Matt Dillion as the lead gunslinger and now in production in Alberta.

Set in the 1880s American frontier, The Magnificent Seven follows a group of mercenaries who are hired to protect a peaceful Quaker village after it is massacred by a land baron’s hired guns.

As the flawed but gifted mercenaries embed with the Quakers, they must grapple with the question of whether it is acceptable to use violence to defend a people whose faith is based on nonviolence. The series will explore each member of the Seven, exploring what’s at stake and why they chose to take on this mission.

The Seven:

Matt Dillon as Chris Adams, who becomes the leader of seven gunslingers determined to protect a group of innocent villagers from a mercenary land baron hellbent on stealing their land.

Stoic, steady under pressure, and with an unflinching gaze that does most of the talking for him, Chris has no patience for hypocrisy or cruelty and holds fast to a quiet moral code rooted in fairness and restraint.

Michael Ealy as Vin Tanner, who spent his early adulthood as a Pullman Porter. When a gang held up his train, Vin talked his way into allowing him to join their gang. What followed was the freest stretch of his life, a found family, rough and loyal. It didn’t last. Now he drifts, looking for something to believe in.

The Ruthless Land Baron:

Will Patton as a new character — ruthless baron Cyrus T. Clemons. In order to complete the town of Clemons, he needs the land owned by a peaceful, yet resolute group of Quakers. When they refuse to sell their land and hire the Magnificent Seven to fight back, Clemons is forced to use his private army to drive them out. But the further his plans unravel, the more desperate Clemons becomes.
