Production on horror series From’s fifth and final season is underway in Nova Scotia, with Harold Perrineau as the self-appointed Sheriff of a nightmarish town desperately trying to save the trapped residents and get them home..
FROM unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town in middle America that traps all those who enter. As the unwilling residents fight to keep a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest – including the terrifying creatures that come out when the sun goes down.
The series begins when the Matthews family (father Jim, mother Tabitha, daughter Julie and son Ethan) arrive in town and discover they’re trapped like everyone else.
Jim Matthews (Elon Bailey) died in season 3 when a Man in Yellow (Douglas E. Hughes) attacked him, tearing out his throat.
Why? To prevent Jim’s wife Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Jade (David Alpay) from discovering they are reincarnated versions of earlier townsfolk.
What happens in season 4?
In Season 4, the closer the residents of town get to the answers they seek, the more terrifying their search becomes. Who is the Man in Yellow, and what does he want? Will Jade (David Alpay) and Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno,)’s revelation be the key to finally going home? How much longer can Boyd (Harold Perrineau) hold the town together, even as his body and mind are falling apart? And what role will the town’s most recent arrival play in the events to come? Season Four will open doors that some in town will end up wishing had remained closed.
Recent arrival Sophia (Julia Doyle) presents as a sheltered pastor’s daughter but is actually the evil Man in Yellow, who can take the human form of people who have died.
In the season finale, Boyd (Harold Perrineau) and other trapped residents decide to pull up the Bottle Tree by the roots, even at the risk of losing its protection.
This will give Jade (David Alpay) and Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno,)’an escape hatch to the surface from the cavern below. The reincarnated pair have recovered the bones of f the Anghkooey children, believing this could be the act that frees everyone.
But Sophia/the Man in Yellow (Julia Doyle) has secretly messed with the ladder which breaks with Jade’s weight. Jade and Tabitha are forced to go deeper into the tunnels to escape the creatures.
And on the surface, an eclipse plunges the town into darkness, allowing the creatures to attack all the residents gathered around the uprooted tree. Boyd and the others race to their vehicles to get away.
The sun comes back but in the chaos, Sophia/the Man in Yellow goes around the town removing every talisman she can find, stripping the residents of their protection against the creatures.
In the forest Sophia/the Man in Yellow meets the Boy in White (Vox Smith), who says, “They have the bones. You’re going to lose this time”.
Sophia/the Man in Yellow replies “I guess we’ll see”.
I guess we will — in the fifth and final season.
