Ryan Hurst will be recast as Kratos in Prime Video’s God of War after a late June injury on set in British Columbia,
Production on the live-action adaption of the popular ancient mythology game paused on July 1st with a plan to resume on August 10th after Hurst recovered from surgery on his torn bicep.
But that was optimistic. A return to full strength from a serious bicep tear could take up to a year.
Studios Sony Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios couldn’t wait that long., reports Deadline: Hollywood.
The production pause in BC is extended until October while the lead role is recast.
Filming on the Prime adaption began February 25th in North Vancouver.
What is God of War about?
God of War follows Kratos, the God of War, who, after exiling himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, hangs up his weapons forever in the Norse realm of Midgard.
When his beloved wife dies, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son (Callum Vinson)to spread her ashes from the highest peak—his wife’s final wish.
Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to battle new Gods and monsters for the fate of the world.
