Prime’s RULES OF PREY: Adaption of John Sanford’s Crime Novels Filming in Toronto

Prime’ Video’s Rules of Prey, an adaption of John Sanford’s Prey crime novels, starts filming in Toronto next week.

Who has been cast as the brilliant, wealthy computer games inventor and Minneapolis police detective Lucas Davenport?

Synopsis of first book Rules of Prey:

Louis Vullion appears to be an unremarkable young attorney, but beneath his polished exterior lurks a calculating serial killer. Guided by a personal code designed to outsmart investigators—never knowing his victims, never leaving a motive, and never repeating a pattern—he stalks and murders women across the Twin Cities, turning each crime into a twisted intellectual game.

After the third killing, unconventional investigator Lucas Davenport is assigned to the case. A brilliant detective who works independently within the Office of Special Intelligence, Davenport quickly realizes the killer isn’t driven solely by compulsion but by the thrill of competition. As the murderer taunts police with cryptic messages signed “maddog,” the investigation becomes a deadly battle of wits. To stop the escalating murders, Davenport must match the killer’s intelligence, anticipate his next move, and risk everything in a psychological showdown where the slightest mistake could prove fatal

Like Reacher (based on Lee Child’s books) and Cross (based on James Patterson’s novels), Rules of Prey is a gritty crime series adapted from a long-running book franchise built around a charismatic lead investigator. All three series film in Toronto.
