The sequel is inspired by The Facebook Files, the explosive Wall Street Journal investigative series by Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White) that revealed how Facebook, under the leadership of CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Jeremy Strong) and COO Sheryl Sandberg, prioritized profit and growth over user safety.

These included Facebook’s awareness that Instagram harmed teen girls’ mental health, the existence of “XCheck,” a system that shielded VIP users—including politicians and celebrities— from enforcement, and the platform’s role in fueling misinformation and violence globally.
