The season 2 finale of BC mystery series Murder in a Small Town finds Rossif Sutherland’s Karl Alberg and Kristin Kreuk’s Cassandra Lee both tracking a series of killings but from different angles.

Karl (Rossif Sutherland) and the police force investigate the murder of a man found dead at the bottom of his staircase. During their investigation, Karl’s team discovers an item at the scene of the crime that may be linked to other murders. Karl warns Cassandra (Kristin Kreuk) to stay out of the case, but her connection to it makes her unable to stop
All season long, Cassandra and Karl’s daughter Holly (Dakota Guppy)have been looking at a series of cold cases , including the death of Cassandra’s high school friend many years ago, which connect with Karl’s latest case. Does Gibsons have an Avenger in its midst?

Adapted from characters in L.R. Wright’s Alberg Mystery series, Murder in a Small Town follows big city cop Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland), who moves to the small town of Gibsons to become its police chief and is surprised to find there is more drama than expected in this quiet coastal community.
After hitting it off with local librarian Cassandra Lee (Kristin Kreuk), Karl struggles to balance his budding romance with his job of solving murders.
In season 2, Karl and Cassandra are pitted against each other by the machiavellian Gibsons Mayor (Marcia Gay Harden) who uses their competing priorities – police chief Karl needs a bigger budget to staff his expanded jurisdiction and new councilwoman Cassandra wants to fund a new arts centre — to advance her own agenda. But in last week’s episode the Mayor Holman’s conflicts of interest forced her resignation.
How will season 2 leave our sleuthing couple?
We knew that we really had to take Karl and Cassandra’s two-season-long relationship story to a place that would feel climactic but would also be a springboard into, should we be so lucky as to get a third season, open up a dynamic for stuff to explore in the third season — showrunner Ian Weir to TV Insider.
