Season 7 of Netflix’s popular BC-filmed romance Virgin River will see Mel & Jack’s honeymoon phase as a married couple start with a hot air balloon ride above Virgin River, played by Squamish, British Columbia.
What’s Virgin River about?
Netflix’s longest-running scripted series follows Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse and midwife who moves to the small California town Virgin River from Los Angeles, after her husband Mark dies. There she falls for restaurant/bar owner and former marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and after a lot of complications the pair got married in the season 6 finale.
In season 7, newly-married, Mel and Jack pursue their dream of adopting a baby while old loves smolder and new threats challenge Virgin River.
Will we see Mel and Jack become parents in season 7?.
She wants us to be the parents of her baby — Mel .
It’s another emotional rollercoaster.
And there’s a murder to solve, too.
Who’s Dead in Season 7’s First 5 Minutes?
Season 7 picks up two hours after the big season 6 cliffhanger — after Jack walked into his ex Charmaine’s house to ask why she skipped the wedding and found something horrifying off camera.
Turns out it’s a dead body in the twins’room and the body is Calvin, their biological father. Did Charmaine shoot him? And where is she? Police find CCTV footage of Charmaine and the twins at a gas station several hours away.
Besides Mel & Jack there are other relationships to explore: Preacher (Colin Lawrence) and Kaia (Kandyse McClure not pictured below); Doc (Tim Matheson) and Hope (Annette O’Toole) and Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) and Denny (Kai Bradbury).
And the Brie-Mike-Brady love triangle continues, too. Mike proposed to Brie in the finale after making it clear he knew about Brie hooking up with her ex Brady. We don’t know how Brie responds. We do know how Lark responds — she swindles Brady out of his money and takes off.
Joining Virgin River in season 7 are three new characters:
Sara Canning as Victoria, an ex-cop who was shot in the line of duty and now works for the state medical board as an investigator. Victoria comes to Virgin River to look into Doc’s practice, but she also runs into a friend with whom she wouldn’t mind catching up … or maybe even pursuing something more.
Cody Kearsley as the tough, athletic Clay, the kind of guy who gets noticed when he enters a room. Clay has experience working the rodeo circuit, and he grew up in foster care with his younger sister, whom he hasn’t seen since he was a teenager. He’s been looking for her ever since.
One Tree Hill’s Austin Nichols as a figure from Mel’s past.
Season 7 wrapped production in Vancouver last June and the series was renewed for season 8.
What’s coming in season 8?
It’s hard to know but the town of Virgin River will handle it.
