HBO’s hit series The Last of Us casts Kyriana Kratter as Lev and Michelle Mao as their sister Yara — Seraphite rebels who play a key role in season 3 of the video game adaption filming in BC.
Born as Lily to a Seraphite mother, the teen balks at being married off to an Elder opting to transition into a male instead by shaving their head and renaming themselves Lev.
See 13-year-old Kyriana Kratter’s stage combat reel if not convinced of the casting.
Lev’s sister Yara helps them escape from the wrath of their village and it is Yara who insists on freeing a captured Washington Liberation Front (WLF) member Abby as they flee.

Season 3 shifts perspective from Ellie’s story to Abby’s story — focusing on Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby Anderson, arguably the most-hated video game character of all time.
Will our feelings towards Abby soften as we learn more of her backstory?

The fans are really going to like it, I think, the shifting perspective onto Abby, getting some more context onto her storyline and going back in time with this season. — — Kaitlyn Dever to Deadline: Hollywood.
What is The Last of Us?
The Last of Us takes place 20+ years after modern civilization has been destroyed by the Cordyceps fungal pandemic.
In season one, Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, was hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What started as a small job soon became a brutal and heartbreaking journey as they traversed the U.S. and depended on each other for survival.
Season 2 picked up five years after the events of the first season, with Joel and Ellie living in Jackson, Wyoming but estranged by a lie. Joel’s brutal death at the hands of former Firefly Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) sent Ellie to Seattle on a path of vengeance against Abby and her Washington Liberation Front (WLF) crew.
Season 3 changes perspective, following Abby on her journey to a confrontation with Ellie in Seattle.
The Fireflies and the WLF:
One of Abby’s crew Manny Alverez had to be recast after Danny Ramirez dropped out of season 3 due to a scheduling conflict. Jorge Lendeborg Jr. is the new Manny.
And Patrick Wilson joins season 3 as Abby’s fatherJerry and Jason Ritter as WLF soldier Hanley.

The Seraphites:
We will meet Clea DuVall as a new Seraphite leader;
And Kyriana Kratter as Lev and Michelle Mao as Yara of course.
The Seraphites are distinguished by their scarred faces, the men’s shaved heads and the women’s braided hair.

The Last of Us is busy casting Seattle Seraphite backgrounders for season 3.

The Last of Us has leased farmland for three years at Golden Ears Way & 210th Street in Maple Ridge as a temporary media production studio for filming. Locals say the set looks like a town or village but It’s hard to tell because of the massive blue screens.

Eventually, the story will return to Jackson residents Ellie, Gabriel Luna’s Tommy and Isabel Merced’s Dina but sadly Catherine O’Hara”s Jackson therapist Gail won’t be back. The Canadian icon died earlier this year and Pedro Pascal paid tribute when the news broke.
Oh, genius to be near you. Eternally grateful. There is less light in my world, this lucky world that had you, will keep you, always. Always ♥️
