Season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale hit sequel The Testaments, starring Chase Infiniti’s Agnes and Lucy Halliday’s Daisy as Gilead wives-in-training, goes into production this August in Toronto.
The big twists from The Testaments season one: Elizabeth Moss’s rebel June Osborne from The Handmaid’s Tale placed Daisy as an agent inside the theocratic regime and Agnes is actually June and Luke’s stolen daughter Hannah.
Four years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, Daisy (Lucy Halliday) enters Gilead under the guise of being a new recruit from Canada at Aunt Lydia’ (Ann Dowd)’s elite preparatory academy for girls who will soon be eligible for marriage. Agnes (Chase Infiniti) is assigned to be her mentor.
In the season finale, Agnes (Chase Infiniti) discovers that her biological mother is June Osborne (Elizabeth Moss) and casts off her Gilead conditions and declares her true identity to Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd).
Adapted from Margaret Atwood’s own Booker Prize-winning sequel The Testaments, the series does make some changes to the text, as well as expanding June Osborne’s role in the narrative.
Elizabeth Olsen is an executive producer of The Testaments and her character June Osborne will recur in season 2, as well.
