Netflix’s more realistic but still heartwarming Little House on the Prairie gained more viewers last week after a middling launch on July 9th.
In its second week, the new adaption of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic frontier family saga ranked the #1 show on Netflix with 9.8 million views. That brings the total views of the Winnipeg-filmed series up to over 16 million views.
The Ingalls family — Crosby Fitzgerald as mother Caroline, Luke Bracey as father Charles, Skywalker Hughes as their eldest daughter Mary and Alice Halsey as their second daughter and series narrator Laura — start their covered wagon ride from the Big Woods of Wisconsin.
Arriving in Independence, Kansas, they meet Warren Christie’s civil war veteran John Edwards, who helps them build their log cabin.
At the end of season one, John Edwards accompanies the Ingalls family when they decide to move on from Independence, Kansas for a fresh start.. He suggests Minnesota, leading into season 2.
The log cabin: Crew built the 19,000-pound log structure with traditional joinery — no nails, all wood pegs.
The town of Independence: Crew built 29 full-standing buildings.
