As Christmas approached in the Hallmark Channel series Cedar Cove, Jack (Dylan Neal) walked by a festively-decorated cafe in Philadelphia played by the Bean Around the World cafe at Victory Square, with dozens of Vancouver extras in the background bundled up in winter coats and scarves during July heat. That’s the tradition of the BC Film industry. Christmas movies and episodes are often filmed in the summer and summer scenes are sometimes filmed in December and January with fake leaves added to bare tree branches and extras shivering in thin clothing.
In Cedar Cove’s two-part season one finale, Jack ultimately returned to Cedar Cove where he reconciled with Olivia (Andie MacDowell) and we got to see the completely over-the-top Christmas decorations on screen that crew put up in Fort Langley and at the house which plays the Thyme & Tide Bed-and-Breakfast. I regret not going out for this because few productions have gone so overboard with Christmas trim in such a delightful way.
Season 2 of Cedar Cove is expected to start filming in Deep Cove and Fort Langley in the spring of 2014.
