Canmore, Alberta, which plays Jackson, Wyoming in episode 6 of The Last of Us, was Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey’s favourite Alberta location, even though it was bitterly cold and Ramsey never tried the fudge.
We had Canmore, which is a town that’s a dead ringer for Jackson, Wyoming. We needed people on horseback, no problem. We needed some of the best stunt people in the world — they were there . . . While we were bringing crew in from Vancouver as well, there was an enormous amount of fantastic people working in Alberta. — showrunner Craig Mazin told Mobile Syrup.
The only drawback — extreme cold.
We were very lucky because we had the opportunity to have rehearsals before we were on the set. The set was quite difficult because of the cold weather. Sometimes it was even -15 degrees Celsius, so very, very cold. — director Jasmila Žbanić told Variety.

When we go into these places we’re not doing anything small and we spend quite a bit of time there and if there’s one business on the street that we want to film on that doesn’t want to play ball we’re out of luck. Crew built paddocks and stables in a parking lot in the centre of Canmore with sheep, horses and cows:
Canmore…going to a town and being able to put in a half acre of stables and sheep and horses and cows and all of that stuff. My favourite part of that was building the paddock and the stables and everything in the parking lot right in the middle of town — production designer John Paino, The Last of Us: Inside Episode 6..
