YELLOWJACKETS 2×08: Wilderness Lottery Past & Present
Yellowjackets Wildness Roulette: Does a hunt that has no violence feed anyone? The teen survivors’ hunt for their’next meal in 1996 intercuts with cult leader Lottie serving a lethal drink to the adult survivors in 2021 in episode 8 of Yellowjackets season 2.
Yellowjackets is about a group of survivors from a girls’ high-school soccer team who 25 years ago were stranded deep in the wilderness after a plane crash and forced to go feral to survive.
Teens Stranded in the Wilderness in 1996:
The starving teens need to find someone to eat but decide it can’t be beaten-up and ailing Lottie. They draw cards on the understanding that the person who picks the Queen of Hearts will be sacrificed.
Natalie draws the card.
But Travis’s intervention allows her to escape from Shauna’s knife.
Natalie’s teammates howl like wolves in pursuit.
The pack chase Natalie and Javi (who’s leading Nat to his underground shelter) onto the ice. Javi falls through and the Yellowjackets let him drown — then retrieve his body.
The wilderness chose! — teen Van.

The Wilderness castmates honoured the actor at a Death Party in Vancouver, where everyone dressed in black. There will be several more before the series is done.
The wilderness cast actually left studio and went on location for part of the frozen lake sequence.

.Adult Survivors at Lottie’s Compound in 2021:
This is what you all have been doing. Chasing blackmailers and murdering lovers. That’s a little reductive — adult Van.
The adult survivors gather at the Sharing Shack on Lottie’s compound to spill secrets. Shauna confirms she killed her lover Adam thinking he was the one blackmailing the group and that Natalie, Misty and Tai helped cover it up. Misty admits to killing Tai’s investigator Jessica Roberts and interrogating Randy, who implicated Shauna’s husband Jeff as the real blackmailer.
Lottie feels compelled to reenact some of the rituals from the wilderness.
Something guided you here. Something greater, and It has been guiding me as well… It’s too powerful, and now we have to give It what it wants…One of us. — adult Lottie.
Lottie serves six drinks — one spiked with deadly phenobarbital — in a new version of the Wilderness lottery.
