FIRE COUNTRY Writers Raised Funds For BC Film Crew During Strike

Fire Country writers raised funds for the hit broadcast show’s BC film crew. who would have been back at work this summer on season 2 if not for the Hollywood writers and actors strikes.

We all got on a group chain and said, we have to do something for our crew because so much of the fundraising down here in LA is for crews in America and our crew’s up in Canada — Fire Country co-creator Tony Phelan to Deadline: Hollywood.

The almost-five-month-long Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike ended on September 27th and this week, eleven Fire Country writers set up their season 2 Writers Room in Los Angeles to begin outlining the new season and writing scripts.

[I’m] excited to to get back to set because for me, our crew in Vancouver, they are such a large part of why Season 1 was so successful. — supervising producer Barbara Friend to Deadline: Hollywood..

But even with new scripts coming,, production on season 2 of the CBS network firefighting series can’t start in Vancouver until the almost-three-month-long SAG-AFTRA Strike is settled.

What’s Fire Country about?

Seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence, young convict Bode Donovan (Max Thieriot) joins a firefighting program that returns him to his small Northern California hometown, where he and other inmates work alongside elite Cal Fire firefighters to extinguish massive blazes across the region.

Where did the season one finale leave us?

Bode Donovan tanked his own parole in the season one finale, sacrificing himself for a fellow inmate and friend.
