When Will VIRGIN RIVER Season 6 Start Filming? As Soon As “Vancouver Weather Allows”!

When will a delayed season 6 of Netflix’s rHallmark-esque hit series Virgin River start filming in B.C.? As soon as “Vancouver weather allows” Virgin River star Alexandra Breckinridge told Deadline: Hollywood, adding that a Spring start is possible.

We’re going to start as soon as the Vancouver weather allows. So hopefully in the spring is what I’ve been hearing. ..I keep trying to tell them they should just pick up Season 7 so we can just knock Seasons 6 and 7 and call it a day. — Virgin River star Alexandra Breckinridge to Deadline: Hollywood.

Originally scheduled to start last July, filming on season 6 was delayed by a rare Hollywood double strike by guild writers and actors that shut down productions from the struck companies like Netflix.

Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Deadline that his writers had finished scripts for half of season 6 before their guild went on strike in early May. And resumed work on the second half after the Writers Guild of America reached a deal in September.

What’s Virgin River about?

Based on the novels by Robyn Carr, Virgin River follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse and midwife who moves to the small California town from Los Angeles after her husband Mark dies.

There she falls for restaurant/bar owner and former marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).

Season 5 starts with Mel and Jack in a good place — engaged and expecting a baby — and ends in a good place — despite Mel’s tragic miscarriage in episode 5.

What can we expect in season 6?

A time jump. More on Mel and Jack, of course. More on Mel’s bio Dad. More on Doc’s prognosis. Weddings and returning villains.
