TRON: ARES – 5 More Overnight Shoots in Downtown Vancouver This Week

Screencap from Ed Chee/@cheechoo98 video.

Look out for more of Jodie Turner-Smith”s Athena in a “large futuristic vehicle” in downtown Vancouver this week for four more Tron: Ares overnight shoots.

The first of this week’s five overnight shoots took place last night.

You might see the “large futuristic vehicle” driving into set pieces in the laneways north and south of the 1100 block of Melville Street or driving over cars on the 200 – 600 blocks of Thurlow Street.

Ed Chee captured Athena in the “large futuristic vehicle” at one of last week’s overnight shoots.

This week’s fight sequences are happening in the intersection of Thurlow and West Cordova Streets.

Last week’s big action sequences took place in the intersection of Burrard and Dunsmuir Streets near the Bentall 5 tower which plays ENCOM headquarters.

Director Joachim Rønning’s story last week from Burrard Street.

So why is so much of the action in the third movie in Disney’s Tron franchise happening in a real-world city and not on The Grid?

In Tron 3, Jared Leto stars as an emerging sentient program Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I.

His Ares was spotted on set a month ago at Bentall 5 as ENCOM headquarters .
