Trust Me I’m a Doctor tells the story of Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, who was acquitted on all charges related to the death of his celebrity patient Anna Nicole Smith.
The feature, starring Kal Penn as the Doctor and Abbie Cornish as the reality TV star, has been filming in Toronto for a couple of weeks.
Trust Me I’m a Doctor is based on the memoir of Dr. Sandeep Kapoor (Kat Penn), whose life is turned upside down when he is implicated in the death of his former patient — model, actress, and reality TV star, Anna Nicole Smith.
The film takes place at the height of early 2000s tabloid culture and explores the intersection of fame, privacy, self-discovery and politics through the perspective of a man who wound up forced into the spotlight through the court of public opinion.
Linda Hamilton plays Dr. Kapoor’s attorney Ellyn Garafalo in the drug conspiracy trial.
